This weekend Las Vegas will be crowded and things will be hopping at two tournaments, and with both the KVBC Las Vegas Desert Shootout and the Double Pump Las Vegas Spring Tournament running at full steam, it will be almost like summer in the desert, a sort of mini-Big Time, with both tournaments holding games at 10 different gyms across the Las Vegas region. There will be 96 teams playing in both tournaments over the three day period, featuring some of the best talent in the country, and with Division I college coaches from all over the country out in full force (and the National Association of Broadcasters convention also in town) it's going to be hard to find a room if you don't already have one.

This morning we received a few e-mails from Dinos Trigonis which contained the schedules, the pool pairings and driving directions and we're happy to pass the information along. Pay particular attention to the driving directions to Sierra Vista, which is a relatively new high school that many college coaches may not previously have been to since it's not on the usual Big-Time tournament route.

KVBC-TV-3 (NBC's Las Vegas affiliate), in conjunction with TMT and Fullcourt Press, are sponsoring the inaugural KVBC Las Vegas Desert Shootout, which will be played at Sierra Vista and Palo Verde High School gyms this weekend. The games are scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, April 5, and will continue all day Saturday, concluding with the championship game on Sierra Vista's main court at 5:45 p.m. Sunday. This event was the first tournament in the spring to secure sactioning approval from the NIAA (Nevada Interscholastic Athletic Association), meaning that Division I coaches can be in attendance under the newly revised recruiting rules.

Top teams include Belmont Shore, H-Squad, HAAY (Houston), Arizona Stars, EBO, Compton Magic, Bay Area Ballers, Inland, True-Players (Denver), ABC Hoops (Carson, CA), ICANN All Stars, 4"D" Stars, Utah Bruins (Salt Lake City), Las Vegas Select, InnerCity/B-Ball (Carson), Bellflower Hoops, ARC (Sherman Oaks), Phoenix West, LA Valley Triple Threat, Carls' Jr. Super Stars (Santa Barbara), Total Impact, Ball-N-OC (La Habra) and the Las Vegas Rebels.
