Rockfish Workout

Saturday, April 27, 2002

Los Angeles City College

Top Players From SoCal

Mark Mayemura and Dave Benezra of the Los Angeles Rockfish asked us to pass along this notice, and we're happy to do so:

The Los Angeles Rockfish will be holding an open workout this Saturday morning, April 27, 2002, at Los Angeles City College (855 N. Vermont Avenue, Los Angeles, Calif. 90029... north of the Vermont Avenue off-ramp of the Hollywood-101 Freeway... between Melrose and Santa Monica Blvd. in East Hollywood) for anyone interested in playing for the Los Angeles Rockfish.

Arrive by 9:15 am to register and be ready to play from 9:30 - 11:30 am. Unlike other Rockfish practices/workouts, this open workout will not have any individual station workouts, it'll just be open scrimmaging.

This is for new players. Players who have not played or worked out for the Rockfish in the past. Players currently in the 8th, 9th, 10th and 11th grade are allowed to participate.

Players who have played with the Rockfish in the past or who just competed in the Rockfish Spring League do not need to participate in this one-time only open workout.  The workout is designed for Rockfish coaches to look at new players who are interested in playing with the Rockfish this summer and beyond.   For Rockfish coaches, it's an opportunity to evaluate new talent, prior to finalizing their summer rosters, and it presents an opportunity for players who might not have been seen this spring to get the attention of the Rockfish guys.  For example, Justin Hawkins (Lakewood Mayfair, who recently was named the RSL Player of the Year), last year participated in a similar open workout was invited to play with the Rockfish last summer.
