Andre Hazel, Jr. Granted Release
By Nevada-Reno--(May 14, 2002)
We received an e-mail last night from Andre Hazel, Sr., father of the very talented point guard and former Artesia HS standout, Andre Hazel, Jr., who for the past two years has been attending the University of Nevada-Reno and has been the starting point guard. Apparently, Andre has asked for and been granted his release from Reno, but there has been some confusion about the reasons for the release, and Mr. Hazel wanted us to know that some of the wire service reports are not quite accurate. "Andre is a sophomore [not a junior] and he wanted to be closer to home. Thats it. The story on the wire services is misleading. No academic problems or athletic problems."
There you have it....Good luck to Andre Hazel, Jr., (we can see the reason for the confusion....) wherever he ends up playing next season.
