Morro Bay Hires Mark Berokoff As
New Head Coach--(May 22, 2002)
Mark Berokoff, who has led two teams to the Division V title games in two years, including winning the CIF Southern Section's Division V-AA title in 2000-01 with a Calvary Chapel Downey squad that featured Utah-signee Tim Drisdom (6'-4" Sr. PG), has been hired as the new head coach at Morro Bay. In the 1999-2000 season, Berokoff took Eastside Christian (then called "Heritage Christian) to the Southern Section Division V-A game, losing to eventual State Champion L.A. Price in the finals. The next year, Berokoff moved to Calvary Chapel Downey, and repeated his trip to the finals in Division V-AA, taking the title and securing the second consecutive "Player of the Year" award for Drisdom.
Berokoff has also been a perennial sideline figure for the Los Angeles Rockfish club program, where he has coached for more than 6 years. Despite the move, Berokoff will continue his affiliation with the Rockfish program and plans to coach for the club this summer as well.
Congratulations (belatedly) to Mark and his family from SoCalHoops.
