Catching Up: Cal State Bakersfield
Gets Terri Miller--(May 9, 2002)

csubakersfield.gif (1895 bytes)We often report on D-I signings and commitments, but often overlook D-II stuff.  Well, no longer.  Cal State Bakersfield is one of the better D-II programs in SoCal, and in recent years they've been capable on some nights of knocking off some of the better D-I teams. While they don't have any signed National Letters of Intent that we know about, they have some excellent players, and during April they secured the services of a quality big man, Terri Miller, who has been playing at Fresno City College.  Here's the press release on Miller issued by CSUB, which was actually released last month...but better late than never.

Fresno Star Terri Miller Enrolls

All–State JuCo star at Fresno City College will bolster Roadrunner frontline

The Cal State Bakersfield men’s basketball team added the first new player to its 2002–03 roster with the addition of 6–8, 220 postman Terri Miller (New York, NY/Fresno CC). Miller has enrolled at CSUB for the spring quarter and will be eligible to play next season.

Miller was one of the top players in Fresno City College history, ranking among the top career scorers and rebounders in Rams’ history. Miller, who sat the last two seasons, led the team in both categories over the 1999 and 2000 seasons.

Miller earned All–State and Central Valley Conference MVP honors as a sophomore in 2000, averaging 19.7 points and 11.7 rebounds per game. He was an All–CVC pick as a freshman when he averaged 17.4 points and 10.3 rebounds per game.

Miller led the Rams to a combined 65–7 record over his two seasons, helping them reach the California JuCo Final Four once and Elite Eight once. He played with former CSUB All–American Ramel Curry both seasons at Fresno. Wednesday (April 10) is the first day teams can sign basketball players to national letters of intent, though Miller did not sign a letter of intent at CSUB before enrolling.
