Cal State Fullerton Signs
Three JC Players--(May 14, 2002)

Cal State Fullerton has been busy this spring, and now that the NCAA no longer has the school on probation and the Titans can recruit JUCO players, Donny Daniels, Rob Orellana and Jason Levy have been hard at work scouring the country for some immediate assistance from the JUCO ranks, and they've signed three players this spring.  Here's the official press release from last week announcing the signings.  We'll have more on these guys shortly.

Three JC Transfers Sign with Titans

Three junior college players have signed national letters of intent to continue their basketball careers at Cal State Fullerton.

Franck Essis of Chaffey College in Rancho Cucamonga, Jamal Forcheney of West Hills JC in Coalinga and Zakee Smith of Panola JC in Carthage, Texas, join Coach Donny Daniels' program for the 2002-03 season. Essis is a 6-foot-4 wing player who sat our last season. Originally from Brooklyn, NY, Essis averaged nearly 20 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists per game at Chaffey.

Forcheney is a 6-foot-7 power forward who also is originally from Brooklyn. He averaged 14 points and 9 rebounds per game and shot 67 per cent from the floor.

Smith is a 6-foot point guard who was among the nation's leaders with 14 assists per game. The Philadelphia native also averaged 13 points.

Coach Daniels expects to sign a few more players.
