We recieved an e-mail yesterday from Ethan Hamilton at Azusa Pacific University letting us know about their summer high school shootout, which will take place on June 28-29. This looks like a team camp of sorts, not truly a tournament, but then again, maybe we didn't get all of the details. Whatever it is, there are going to be some truly excellent teams playing, and it will be a chance to get a glimpse locally of some of the top teams in the region and what they are likely to look like next year. Among the top teams playing are Mater Dei, Riverside King, Ocean View, Canyon Springs, San Dimas, La Canada, and several others who could be capable of repeating or winning for the first time a section title or two. Here's the full list of the teams participating in the respective pools:

Finally, Ethan also sent us the "rule of play" for the tournament:

Games begin at 9:30 with the last game beginning at 7:45. There will be a 15-minute break from 3:45 to 4:00 to make up for any missed time.
Game times are listed at every 1 hour and 15 minutes.
We will play regulation HS rules with 4 quarters of 8 minutes.
We will have the single and double bonus with free throws.
Any player can foul out.
Each team will be given two timeouts for the entire game, usable at any time.
There will be only a five-minute warm-up (or any extra time until scheduled tip-off) as well as a five-minute halftime.
In case of overtime, it will be sudden death (1st point wins). There will also be NO shot clock.
