SoCalHoops Recruiting News

We Continue To Make News....
Sorta, Kinda...--(June 13, 2002)

While perusing the Los Angeles Times archives for news of happenings in SoCal basketball that we might have missed in the last few weeks, we came across the following, and just had to laugh....In other words, don't believe everything you read, especially on the message board.  Our boards can sometimes be a great place to exchange news about tournaments,  teams, and upcoming events.  They can also be places where a lot of rumors and just plain erroneous info gets spread.... This is from the June 1, 2002 Los Angeles Times, courtesy of sportswriter Joel Hood:

Don Lugo boys' basketball Coach Eric Highstreet was caught by surprise
recently when scrolling the rumor board on the SoCalHoops Web site.

"I like reading about what's going on at other high schools, but when I saw that
I wasn't coaching at Don Lugo anymore, I was like, 'Hey, wait a minute.' "

The entries he read said 12-year NBA veteran and Verbum Dei assistant
coach David Greenwood was taking over the Conquistadores' program.

"It's not true," Highstreet said. "I'm not going anywhere."

Another circulating rumor was that Greenwood was going to become an
assistant to Mike Power at Diamond Ranch. That's also untrue, according to
Panthers Athletic Director Jaime Sandoval.

Like we said, don't believe everything you read....
