Nike Battle Ground Venice Beach Pro League
Starts This Weekend--(June 13, 2002)

We all live in Southern California so what better place to play hoops than at the beach? And there are plenty of famous courts, but none have as consistently good competition as you'll find at Venice Beach. We'll be the first to admit that we don't really know much about the Venice Beach Nike Battle Ground Pro League, but according to Burrell Lee, who also works with the Anaheim ABA franchise, and who has been around the SoCal basketball community for a long time, there's a new summer outdoor league and it will get going this weekend at the outdoor courts at Venice Beach. Here's an e-mail we received from Burrell:

I would like to invite you out to our first game this Saturday, June 15th at 3:00pm at Venice Beach Outside Courts. The Hoopology Thunder Pro-Am Basketball Club (my team) will be taking on a team called Pro's All-Stars in week one of the NIKE BattleGround Pro Basketball Leagues. This league will be going on every Saturday until August 24th. One team will walk away with $25,000 at the end of the season. There will be many NBA guys out here playing, but I want to invite you out to our first game. We will be the team wearing the Orange/white/black uniforms.
