usc team camp

The University of Southern California will be holding a "team camp" starting today, and it's an opportunity for the USC coaches to get an up-close-and-personal look at some of their recruiting prospects, at their own campus, and outside the NCAA live viewing period, which doesn't start until July 8, a week from this coming Monday. In fact, this is just one of hundreds of such camps which take place all over the country during the month of June (in addition to all of the privately run tournaments for high school teams.

The camp will be structured in a tournament format, and will be held at the Lyon Center on the USC campus. As far as we know, all of the USC coaches (with the exception of Eric Brown, who is having ACL surgery today....get well soon Eric) will be in attendance.

We also received the schedule for today's games, and while it's a bit hard to decipher, we'll try to make some sense out of it: There will be 25 teams participating, including some teams who have a few prospects that we're certain USC would be interested in recruiting, including Fairfax (Jason Gilzene, Alex Bausley, Josh Shipp, etc), Rolling Hills Prep (Curtis Allen), Diamond Bar (Khalif Ford), Centennial, Fremont, Mission Prep, and others. The first game will start at 1:00 p.m. and the last will tip off at 8:00 p.m. tonight. We may take a look and wander over to the Lyon Center ourselves to check out the action.
