adidas ABCD Camp: First Day's
Statistical Leaders, Top 10 Report--(July 8, 2002)

abcd.gif (2949 bytes) What: 17th Annual ABCD Camp
When: July 8-11, 2002
Where: Fairleigh-Dickinson University
Teaneck/Hackensack, New Jersey
Who: 200 Top Prep Players

ABCD has contracted with a computerized stats service and it's really a very sophisticated "real time" program. Stat reports can be printed for virtually every conceivable category and just about the only thing you can't get is a shot chart, and that's not because the stats computers won't record it, but simply because it would take more than the two stats people already working the machines to get info that detailed.  But as it is, things are pretty detailed, right down to what is known as a "player rating."  The actual formula for the player rating is rather complicated [(2 x FG Made = 3Pt FTG Made + AS +BL +OR) + (1.5x (DR +ST) + Total PTS + FT Made -(2 x TO) - (FT Missed + FG Missed + 3-Pt FG Missed /GP)].

One of the easiest and most popular reports is the "Top 10 Report" for the entire camp.  This is the condensed report which features the top statistical leaders in every category.   It's easy for us to reproduce here, i.e., not a lot of typing late into the night, so we'll pass along the top categories (player rating, scoring, rebounding, assists, steals, blocks, FG %,  3-point % and Free throw %).

We don't have the time right now to type in the rest of the stats (i.e., shot percentage, both from the field and from the line, as well as behind the arc), but we will say that the leader in FG % with a minimum of 5 FG made per game is Bowers who is shooting a remarkable 91.7% from the floor.  The other leaders in 3pt shooting and FT % are all hitting 100%, and they include: McKenzie,   Neitzel, DavisK, and Law.

More to follow later....
