Team Members Released--(July 18, 2002)
Yesterday, we posted a very unofficial list of the players we had been told had made the tema and those who had not. We got the report right on 11 of 12 players, and also got correct the players who had not made the team. But for some reason that we can't explain, Mustafa Shakur was listed as having made the team by our source, but when the official roster for the team was released today by USA Basketball, Mustafa was not on the list, and instead, Brian Johnson's name was there. Johnson (pictured right), at 15 years of age, is reportedly the youngest player to ever be named to a U.S. national team.
So, now that the official list of names is out, here's who has been selected to represent the United States in the international competition which will take place later this month in Venezuela:
