UC Irvine Goes Overseas For

Nic Campbell Signs--(Aug. 21, 2002)
UC Irvine has signed yet another player who will be eligible to play this fall, Nic Campbell (6'-6" Fr. F) from Australia. We don't know anything about this guy other than what is contained in the official press release, which was issued yesterday. Here's the story:
NIC CAMPBELL SIGNS ATHLETIC GRANT-IN-AID WITH UC IRVINE MENS BASKETBALL PROGRAM
IRVINE, Calif. --- Nic Campbell, a 6-6 forward, has signed an Athletic Grant-In-Aid with the UC Irvine mens basketball program and will be a freshman at the University beginning this fall quarter.
Campbell is currently playing for the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) in the South East Australian Basketball League (SEABL). He is averaging 17 points and 4.5 rebounds per game for AIS, which placed first in the regular season standings with an 18-6 record in the East Conference of the SEABL. Campbell scored 28 points in a 106-92 win over Frankston in the regular-season finale. He is shooting 43 percent from the field, including 40 percent from three-point range, in 24 games. Campbell, who is second on the team with 82 assists, is shooting 75 percent from the free-throw line. Playoffs begin this weekend (Aug. 24) in the SEABL, which is a member of the Australian Basketball Association.
