DeAngelo Collins Cut By
Toronto Raptors--(Sept. 12, 2002)
The saga of DeAngelo Collins (6'-9" PF) continues. Today, "Slam Sports" a Canadian online publication, republished an article from the Toronto Sun written by Sun sportswriter Bill Harris which suggests that even though the Raptors have never actually confirmed signing Collins to any kind of a deal (they were prevented from doing so under the NBA collective bargaining rules at the time they developed their relationship with Collins this summer), they have now "cut him" as a result of his "off-court" problems. The story does not specify what those "problems" might be, and is filled with innuendo. Curiously, the Raptors own official website at NBA.com does not make any mention of Collins at all.
We won't reprint the allegations contained in the "Slam Sports" article, but if you want to read it, here's the link. Suffice it to say, Collins' is now available to work or sign with another NBA team, but he cannot play in the NBDL, and if he is not picked up by another NBA team, its likely that he'll wind up playing overseas.
