SBVC's William Funn & Blake Walker
Commit To Portland State--(Sept. 16, 2002)

We just received an e-mail from John Smith, the head coach   at San Bernardino Valley College, who wanted us to know that two of his players just committed to Portland State University.  Those two players are Blake Walker (6'-5" So. F/G) and All-State Honorable Mention and All-Conference player who averaged 17.7ppg,  7.1 rpg, and who shot 47% from the field and 35% from three point range last season.  Funn, a 6'-2" So. PG, average 7.1 ppg, and 5.1 assists per game and was also All-Conference (honorable mention) last season.   Walker had been one of the better players to come out of the IEBP program several years ago, and as a player at San Bernardino Cajon, had been teamed with Paul Roby and Donovan Morris, both of whom went east to prep school.  Funn played his high school ball at Bloomington, and had the dubious distinction of ending his high school career when his team lost to Artesia in the second round of the playoffs in February 2000...an Artesia team led by Jack Martinez, Amaury Fernandez and Jon Steffanson (Funn scored 12 of his team's 45 points).

Walker had received recruiting interest from Oregon State, Kansas State, UC Riverside, Boise State, Iowa State, and Dayton.

Funn had been receiving interest from USF, UC Riverside, Boise State, and CSUN.

Congratulations to Portland State head coach Heath Schoyer and Assistant Dedrique Taylor.
