Cal Poly SLO Gets Verbal
From Kameron Gray--(Sept. 10, 2002)
We just heard from a reliable source that Cal Poly SLO has picked up a verbal commitment for next year from Kameron Gray (6'-3" So. PG) from Chabot Junior College in Oakland. Kameron played for Chabot last season, and was a 2002 California Community College All-State Team (First Team) selection following a great run through the State JC Championship Tournament last year; Chabot lost in the quarterfinals to LACC which itself lost to eventual state champion, Saddleback Valley College.
Gray was ranked as the No. 11 overall assist leader at the JUCO level last season in California, averaging 6.1 assists per game. He was also ranked 18th overall in the State in steals at 2.7 per game. Overall, Chabot had the No. 2 rated team offensive output among California JCs, thanks largely some outstanding guard play from Gray.
Gray reportedly visited Cal Poly this past weekend, along with Zack Thurow (6'-9" Sr. F/C) from Minneapolis South High School in Minneapolis, Minnesota. No word yet on whether Thurow will commit, but he reportedly also has a visit scheduled with Navy, and Columbia is also rumored to be interested. Gray is expected to sign this fall in the early signing period.
