Omar Wilkes Will Announce His
Decision This Wednesday--(Sept. 30, 2002)

Early this morning, we received an e-mail from our friend Rico Cabrera, Jr., which curiously enough contained only a blank page.   But this afternoon, Rico sent us another e-mail and it cleared up the mystery.  It contained the following "Media Advisory":

Could it be like father like son??
Son of former Los Angeles Laker Jamaal Wilkes, Omar, to announce college plans on Wednesday

Los Angeles, CA-September 26, 2002- Omar Wilkes, son of former NBA Star Jamaal Wilkes, will hold a press conference on Wednesday Oct. 2, 2002 at Loyola High School to announce which college he plans to attend. Wilkes, a McDonald’s All-American Candidate with a 3.7 GPA and 1170 SAT score, will decide between UCLA, Kansas, and Cal.

Last year Wilkes was selected to the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) All-California 1^st Team (Division I) and was awarded the CIF Southern Section Player of the Year (Division I-A), while averaging 22 ppg., 6 rpg., and 6 apg.

We've always made it a point not  to show up at high school press conferences, and we've got a perfect record so far.  We didn't show up for Tayshaun Prince's, didn't show up for Tyson Chandler's either, but in Omar's case, we will likely make a special exception...Not just because he's a great young man, but because Loyola HS is only about a mile or so from our offices.   Well, actually, it's because Omar is such a great young man, and we know that a lot of people are just dying to know whether he will pick UCLA, Kansas or Cal.
