9th Annual Dream Classic Set For
Return To Pauley Pavilion --(Oct. 14, 2002)

What:   9th Annual Dream Classic
When:    January 4, 2002
Where:    UCLA Pauley Pavilion
Who:    Loyola vs. Mayfair
   Centennial vs. Carson
Mater Dei vs. St. Vincent-St. Mary
   Lincoln vs. Vallejo

Dinos Trigonis sent us an e-mail over the weekend with the details of the upcoming Dream Classic, which makes its return to UCLA's Pauley Pavilion after a four-year absence at that venue (the past two years its been held at LMU), and this one sounds like it will be one of the best ever.  In fact, the organizers of this event have really done it again, pulling off a great matchup which is certain to have high school hoops fans in awe:  LeBron James' St. Vincent-St. Mary team will match up against Mater Dei which Street & Smith has rated as the No. 1 team in the U.S.    We're not certain about whether that's an accurate assessment of the Monarchs in comparison to all the other top high school teams in the country, but there's no doubt that it is certainly a very deep and very talented group of players in this year's Mater Dei lineup, and they will no doubt have their hands full with the consensus No. 1 high school player in the U.S..  We're looking forward to seeing this game, particularly since we haven't had a chance to really see LeBron since the summer of 2001 (he was injured all of last summer with a broken wrist and didn't play).   In any event, here's Dinos' e-mail.  Tickets will go on sale November 4 at the Pauley Pavilion Box Office (located at the south end of Pauley (just north of the football practice field), and at Ticketmaster locations.
