San Diego-CIF: An Overview Of
The Section's Teams--(Nov. 27, 2002)

The San Diego Coaches Association has been really good to us this year.  In the past, getting information out of San Diego has been like pulling teeth, but this year, we've gotten a slew of league and team capsule preview from our friends down south, and there's more than just the previews of teams...Much more.

Here's some other interesting stuff, demonstrating that our friends down in that neck of the woods really don't have much more to do in life than dream up interesting lists....Some of them are more interesting than others, but if you're a basketball fanatic, especially one who follows college recruiting, you'll really appreciate what follows.  Most of these lists were the work of one person, but we've been sworn to secrecy about that person's identity....So let's just attribute all of this to the San Diego Coaches' Association and leave it at that.

1) El Camino,  Avocado,  Division I--Watson leads CIF runner-up who only lost 1 player.
2) Horizon,  Coastal South, Division IV-- Wiggins transfer will help offset loss of Carter & Veikalas.
3) Lincoln, Western, Division IV--D-1 players Davis and McGuire best 1-2 punch in county.
4) Rancho Bernardo,  Palomar, Division I--Top county player Abukar leads a strong supporting cast.
5) La Jolla,  Western,  Division III--Wohlfeil and Moss lead 5 new faces for the Vikings.
6) Torrey Pines, Palomar,  Division I--Experienced duo of Kramer and Fogel will offset youth.
7) San Diego,  Eastern,  Division I--Backcourt of Palmer and Littleton leads athletic group.
8) Mt. Miguel,  Grossmont South,  Division II--Griffin leads deep and athletic squad.
9) Carlsbad,  Avocado,  Division I--Experienced junior class has good size in Austin & Alsina.
10) Scripps Ranch,  Western,  Division II-- Hetherington leads well-balanced attack for the Falcons.

Shaun Davis 5’10" Sr Lincoln-- Exciting point guard who could become SD all-time scorer.
Jared Dudley 6’05" Sr Horizon --Strong inside-outside player who is getting D-1 looks.
Avi Fogel 6’02" Sr Torrey Pines-- Solid guard who leads the Falcon attack.
J.R. Griffin 6’04" Jr Mt. Miguel-- Last year’s newcomer of the year is athletic wing.
Mark Hall 6’07" Jr Granite Hills-- Improving post player who is very active around the basket.
Marlon Howe 6’09" Jr Fallbrook --Athletic big man who runs the floor and wipes the glass.
Lorenzo Keeler 6’01" Jr Escondido --Scoring guard, plays both backcourt spots well (18.0 ppg).
Josh Kramer 6’07" Sr Torrey Pines --Gritty post player with nice range on his jump shot.
Tito Littleton 5’09" Jr San Diego --Tenacious defender who locks up his opponents.
Lafayette Lofton 6’05" Sr Brawley --Strong post player who can score (19.1 ppg)
Kenneth Maye 5’10" Jr Hoover --Feisty point guard who directs action on both ends.
Dominic McGuire 6’07" Sr Lincoln --Very athletic player who can play several positions.
Tony Moore 6’03" Jr Coronado --Athletic wing who can shoot.
Richard Moss 6’05" Sr La Jolla --Athletic wing who sat out last year.
Grayson Moyer 6’05" Jr La Jolla --Knocks down jumpers with the best of them.
Owen Olson 6’08" Sr La Costa Canyon-- Solid post player who does all the dirty work.
Anthony Palmer 5’10" Jr San Diego --Guard who scores in a variety of exciting ways.
Kris Petrovic 6’04" Sr San Pasqual --Athletic wing who can score from the perimeter.
Ryan Read 6’02" Sr Horizon --Shooter who is a steady point for the Panthers.
Nate Reed 5’08" Sr El Cajon Valley --Quick point guard with deep range, can fill it up.
KD Rockett 5’10" Sr Morse --Super quick, was last year’s Eastern Lg Player of the Year.
Ronnie Simpson 6’03" Sr Serra --Tough wing with nice jumper (21.2 ppg)
Keith Spencer 6’06" Sr Eastlake-- Very athletic post player who can score (16.9 ppg)
Greg Sprink 6’02" Sr El Camino --Slashing wing who keeps improving.
Andrew Stinnett 6’04" Sr Valhalla-- Solid inside player who leads the Norsemen.
Louie Trujillo 6’01" Sr Sweetwater-- Shooter who makes the Red Devils go (16.8 ppg).
