Around The Nation: UMBC Signs
Cory McJimson & Seth Davis--(Nov. 22, 2002)
The latest signees from Pierce JC in Washington in clude a couple of SoCal guys: Seth Davis from Muir HS and Cory McJimson from Eisenhower, both of whom were full-qualifiers but who went the JC route first. Here's the press release issued by UMBC on 11/20/02 announcing the signings:
UMBC MEN'S BASKETBALL LANDS A RECORD FOUR PLAYERS IN EARLY SIGNING PERIOD

Head Men's Basketball Coach Tom Sullivan today announced that four prospective student-athletes have signed National Letters of Intent to continue their academic and basketball careers at UMBC. Four players are the most signed in the early period since UMBC entered NCAA Division I competition (1986-87).
The incoming student-athletes are forward Seth Davis (John Muir HS/Pierce College/Pasadena, CA), forward Michael Housman (Langley HS/McLean, VA), forward Cory McJimson (Eisenhower HS/Pierce College/Rialto, CA) and guard Chris Pugh (Oxon Hill HS/Clinton, MD).
Davis is a 6'7", 230-pound forward who is currently a freshman at Pierce College (Lakewood, WA) and will have three years of eligibility at UMBC. He averaged 12.3 ppg and 10.0 rpg at John Muir HS last season and earned All Pacific League honors. He is a current teammate of McJimson, a 6'7", 220-pound forward, who will also have three years of eligibility at UMBC. McJimson averaged 17.3 ppg and 11.1 rpg at Eisenhower HS last season. He earned All-CIF (California Interscholastic Federation, Southern Section) and All Citrus Belt honors as a senior, and was a First Team All San Bernadino County selection.
Both Housman and Pugh are current high school seniors. Housman is a 6'6", 235-pound power forward/center. He averaged 14.0 ppg and 10.0 rpg last season and shot 57% from the floor at Langley HS, earning Second Team All Liberty District honors. Pugh is s 6'2" 160-pound point guard who averaged 8.7 ppg, 5.3 assists per game and 2.1 steals per game in a reserve role for powerful Oxon Hill last season behind current Radford freshman point guard Chris Prince. Pugh has been an honor role student each semester in OHHS's Science and Technology program.
