Sean Phaler Signs
National
Letter Of Intent With UCLA--(Nov. 14, 2002)
Perhaps it was a good thing the Bruins didn't play until last night, because prior to the game, they had already received the signed letter of intent from Villa Park's Sean Phaler (6'-9" Sr. F), and had already issued a press release, albeit a brief one. Sean Phaler (Fay-ler), 6-9 from Villa Park, CA High School, has signed a National Letter of Intent to play men's basketball at UCLA, Bruin head coach Steve Lavin announced Wednesday. Phaler will be an incoming freshman next fall.
Phaler's preseason prep honors include - Street & Smith's High Honorable Mention All-American and first-team All-Metro (Los Angeles) and Lindy's No. 57 senior in the U. S.
As a junior last season at Villa Park, Phaler, a long-range shooting threat, averaged 19.8 points and 8.5 rebounds. He shot 42% from three-point range, connecting on 107.
"It is critical that we continue to keep the top southern California players at home," Lavin said. "Sean Phaler is a very skilled player who has a bright future. Sean comes from a tremendous high school program at Villa Park."
