King Jr. Holiday Challenge
When: January, 19, 1998, at Pauley Pavilion, UCLA Campus. This could be the strongest group of teams ever fielded for this event. This
year's tournament will feature at least eight of the best teams in SoCal, which will also
be featured in the Best in the West Tournament which will take place three weeks
beforehand, December 26-30. This year's only real "dark horse" candidates are
perennial power Mater Dei which appears to be in a rebuilding mode, and Glendora. Games

a large number of 17 & Under AAU national qualifiers, BCI national teams, and other
top flight teams. All games played in the 6,500 seat - air conditioned Health & Sports
Center at UNK. Guarantee 5 games. Pool play July 1-2; seeded tournament July 3-4. Two-16
minute halves, stop-clock. No restrictions on subs or defenses. All players must have one
year or more of high school eligibility remaining after the tournament
