Long Beach State Recruiting:
Brian Turner Nixes Commitment--(Oct. 16, 2001)

Speaking of Long Beach State (see Moulaye Niang commitment story), Brian Turner (6'-1" So. PG), a JUCO point guard from Mineral Area JC in in Flat River, Missouri, committed to Long Beach State back in August, but has reportedly now backed out of the committment and is looking for a school closer to his home in St. Louis.  We don't know if the Billikens are interested or even looking for a point guard, but this is really a heartbreaker for Long Beach State's Rodney Dean, who has been working with Turner for the past several years in an effort to get him academically qualified and enrolled at Long Beach State.  According to Recruiting USA though, apparently some personal matters have surfaced which caused Turner to reconsider the commitment, despite the fact that he recently visited the school and liked the campus and the arena, and obviously the coaches.
