The "rec.sport.basketball" Groups

rec.sport.basketball.college-- This news group is devoted to college
basketball teams; it is not moderated; discussions of teams, conferences, players, coaches
and recruiting
news:rec.sport.basketball.pro--As
the name implies, this is primarily for discussion of professional basketball, mostly NBA
topics (players, trades, coaching, salary caps, and other news items). Most NBA team
information officers will also publish press releases to this news group. It is not
moderated.
news:
rec.sport.basketball.women-- Usenet news group (unmoderated) devoted to
women's basketball in general--topics frequently include WNBA, ABL, women's college ball,
and other topics generally related to basketball of interest to women players, fans,
recruiters and coaches. Also general news releases from WNBA and ABL teams.
news:rec.sport.basketball.europe--Usenet
news group (unmoderated) related to European basketball, from pro to junior level.
Discussion in English related to all European countries and the UK; lots of news on Greek
and French basketball.

rec.sport.basketball.misc --A Usenet news group devoted to
"miscellaneous" basketball topics--sort of a general "catch-all" for
topics that don't fit elsewhere; lots of messages also found in other topics (e.g., card
& memorabilia collecting, officiating, etc). If you're looking for info on basketball
cards, this is a good place to start. (See also news:rec.collecting,
news:rec.collecting.sport.basketball,
and news:rec.collecting.sport.misc). It is
unmoderated.
news:rec.collecting.sport.basketball--news
group devoted to collecting of cards, memorabilia and other valuable merchandise. News of
shows, auctions and sales. Unmoderated.
news: rec.sport.officiating--
news group related to discussing all aspects of officiating (not just for
basketball). Unmoderated.
news: uiuc.sport.basketball
--many University servers list news groups for discussing many topics; this one
is maintained by the University of Illinois-- it is not very active
Many of these groups are very active. However, because they are not moderated, you'll have to sort through some "bulk" advertising, some junk email, and occasionally some pretty mild nude or partially nude pics. And who says basketball is just a game?
