Academy Winter Session

5--Registration; Practice Begins September 12, League Play Jan 10
through March 7 Saturday--North
Hollywood H.S. 9 A.M.; Olive Recreation Center (Burbank) 11 A.M.;
Pierce College 1 P.M. Learn the fundamentals from current and
former high school coaches. Develop the skills to become a top
high school player. Traveling teams will be formed. Any team can
enter league competition. ARC division tournament for all teams
after completion of league play, plus eventual regional and
national tournaments. Former ARC players include NBA Stars: Jason
Kidd, Shawn Kemp, Byron Scott, Don MacLean, Trevor Wilson, Tracy
Murray, Mitchell Butler, Chris Mills, Sean Higgins, Steve Kerr,

Angeles, CA: 47th Annual Pacific
Shores Tournament

Week Dec 1998
at Redondo and Mira Costa High Schools. Last year's tournament
featured some top teams in SoCal, including Redondo, Fairfax,
Serra, Long Beach Jordan, and others. Pool play at both schools,

Los Angeles, CA: 2nd Annual
Reebok-Compton Prep Tip-Off Classic

at Compton College. Invitational tournament only. High School
teams from around SoCal, featuring the top teams and college
prospects.
Anaheim, CA: The John Wooden
Classic Tournament
When: December
4, 1997--high
school tournament; December 6, 1997 College Classic.
Games will be played at the Pond in Anaheim. Full

Oxnard-Ventura, CA: 1998 Gold Coast
Classic (Girls' Varsity)
When: December 8-12, 1998
Hosted
by Rio Mesa (Oxnard) and San Marcos (Santa Barbara) High Schools.
One of the best early season girl's basketball tournaments in
CIF-SS. Top seeds include: Channel Islands, Santa Barbara,
Moorpark, Santa Ynez, Royal. Tournament is played at both
schools, with the final day being played at Rio Mesa (alternate

Valley, CA: 14th Annual Simi
Valley Basketball Tip Off Classic
When: Early December 1998. Last year's
tournament was held at both Simi and Camarillo Highs for the pool
play; finals were at Simi. Invitational only. For entry

Los
Angeles/Cerritos, CA: Annual Gahr-Cerritos Basketball
Tournament
When: Early December 1998. This tournament
will be held at both Gahr and Cerritos Highs for the pool play;
finals will be at Gahr. Invitational.
Montebello, CA: 2d Annual
Montebello Golden State Basketball Tournament
When:
(tentative) Early December 1998. Boys 14U
Tournament. $225 per team ($100 nonrefundable deposit). 3 game
guarantee. First 8 teams will be guaranteed a spot. All Games

Paula), CA: Nordhoff Boys Basketball Tournament

Frontier League (host Nordhoff), the Channel League (Channel
Islands, Hueneme), Tri-Valley League (Fillmore), and Condor

Thousand Oaks Rotary Invitational

Angeles/Chatsworth, CA: Chaminade Christmas Classic

Dec.,1998. The Chaminade Christmas Classic is held at
Chaminade College Prep, and it is for Boys Varsity teams. There
is a three game guarantee, with awards for the champion, second
place and the consolation champion, as well as individual awards
for all tournament, best three point shooter, and the player with

Annual Sea Hawk Classic

Briefly, the December tournament is the 6th Annual Sea Hawk
Classic in Redondo Beach, CA. It is a 4-level tournament with a
3-game guarantee at the Frosh, Soph, & JV levels and a 4-game
guarantee at the Varsity level.

4"D" Stars /NJB Holiday Classic Basketball Tournament

Boys Age: 10, 11, 12, 13, & 14. Girls: 5th & 6th Grade,
7th & 8th Grade; Played at South Bay High Schools. Hosted
jointly by National Junior Basketball and 4 "D" All
Stars. Completed Registration fee and rosters are due by December
8, 1997. First 16 teams per age group will be entered. In years
past in addition to tournament competition, the event has
featured 3-point contest, free-throw shoot-out, coaches dinner,
and special gifts for each player. Cost: $285 for Boys' Teams;

Tip-Off Tournament

Long Beach/Los
Angeles: The Best in the
West Tournament
When: Late Dec. 1998 at Long Beach City College. Last
year the field was expanded to 36 teams. The Tournament is
considered one of the most prestigious December prep tournaments
in California. Last year the BIW's top four seeds were State
Champion Westchester, CIF Semi-Finalist Long Beach Poly, CIF D-1
Finalists Artesia and Southern Section Semi Finalists Compton.
