SoCal Events:
San Diego, CA: Nike National
Basketball Championships
When: July 30 through
August 2 1998
Where: Campus of USIU, San Diego at the High Five America Sports
Center. National tournament featuring traveling and all-star
teams. Qualifiers must have one at least one major tournament
this spring and summer. Contact: High Five America (619)

Santa Barbara, CA: Snow Valley
Basketball Camp
When: August 2-7, 1998 Where: Westmont College, Santa
Barbara, California. Top flight camp, featuring solid instruction
and great competition among the elite players in SoCal.
Orange County, CA: NJB Summer Jam
Tournament
When: August 1, 2 & 3 Tournament for boys and girls,
ages 12U through 15U. Held in Orange County, CA. Entry fee is
$200. Features a 3 game format. Over 60 teams participate. 1st
place teams qualify for Las Vegas Tournament in August (Mae
Fischer's Vegas Tournament). 1st, 2nd, 3rd, Consolation teams
receive individual trophies. Team plaques for 4th, 5th, and
Consolation runner-up. Prize packages are given to all players.

Westminster, CA: Westminster Summer
Splash Tournament
When: August 22-23,
1998. For
Boys ages 14-U, 15-U. Proceeds from tournament to support Boys
and Girls Club of Westminster Athletic Program. Double
elimination or pool play tournament. $100 per team. 1st-3rd place
team trophies. Eight team tournament is limited. Must register by

Alameda/Contra
Costa, CA: Summer Jam
Invitational
When: July 31-August 2,
1998. Boys
and Girls' divisions, grades 5, 6, 7, 8, JV and Varsity. Games
are played in Alameda and Contra Costa Counties. Entry $225 per
team, 3 game guarantee. Boys: 5-6-7-8-JV-Varsity. Girls:

Santa Rosa, CA: Wine Country
Basketball Summer Classic
When: Early August 1998. Boys & Girls divisions, 11-U, 12-U,
13-U, 14-U, JV and Varsity. A highly competitive tournament
featuring teams from all over California. $195 entry fee. 3 game
guarantee. Played at Sonoma State University and various high

Charlotte, NC: 1998 Maccabi
Games--Basketball Tournaments
When: August 10-14, 1998, Where: Charlotte, NC. Competition
in conjunction with the National Maccabi Games to be held in
Detroit this summer. Boys' teams in 15-16 and 13-14 age brackets,
Girls' teams 16 & U. Teams from various cities and countries.
The Charlotte Games take place a week before the larger games in
Detroit, and are designed to accomodate those athletes whose
schools go into session a week earlier, such as Houston, Phoenix,
Milwaukee, and others.
Detroit, MI: 1998 Maccabi
Games-- Basketball Tournaments
When: August 17-23, 1998, Where: Detroit, Michigan.
Competition, in conjunction with the National Maccabi Youth Games
to be held in Detroit this summer. Boys' teams in 15-16 and 13-14
age brackets, Girls' teams 16 & U. Teams from New York, New
Jersey, Los Angeles, Orange County, Portland, Seattle, Kansas
City, Chicago, Florida, Israel, Mexico, Canada, and other
domestic and foreign teams.
